Announced in June’s State of the Game, Resident Evil 4 is a remaster of the original classic that will be released on PS5 and PS VR2, with updated controls, graphics, and gameplay in a similar vein to recent remakes of RE2 Y RE3 respectively.
The original Resident Evil 4 was released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2005 and has since been ported to just about every modern platform under the sun. A version of the game has even been released for virtual reality platforms.
The original game has long been considered one of the best ever made, and the fourth mainline entry in the series was revolutionary in third-person shooters, as well as taking demonic resident in a new action-oriented direction.
It was the first game in the series to feature an over-the-shoulder camera, an inventory management system, and a new setting for the series outside of the infamous Racoon City. each subsequent demonic resident game released after RE4 has been heavily influenced by its design, such as RE7: biological risk and the most recent RE8: Town.

‘Resident Evil 4’ release date
To kick off PlayStation’s State of Play event in June, a new trailer for Resident Evil 4 was shown off with some brief glimpses of what players can expect to see in the game.
More importantly, at the beginning of the trailer, a release date was shared: March 24, 2023. And gamers will be pleased to know that the game is scheduled to release on PS5, Xbox series X/S, and PC.
Will ‘Resident Evil 4’ Introduce a Major New Gameplay Feature?
Capcom’s most recent showcase event, which aired on June 13, gave fans their first look at some gameplay footage from the upcoming game, complete with the game’s trademark over-the-shoulder camera angle. And what caught our eye is how main character Leon Kennedy is seen walking while he’s pointing his gun at him.
Like any veteran of the demonic resident The game franchise will know, until now, players had to stand their ground when a weapon was drawn; it was not possible to move while aiming at the enemy.

Capcom also reminded us at the event how the Resident Evil 4 The new version will be updated with “modern flourishes” and the Manado baddies have been completely redesigned.
Game director Yasuhiro Anpo said, “The experience of being attacked by hordes of crazed cattle is truly an iconic moment of demonic resident. To enhance the concept of ‘terror of people controlled by madness’, the cattle have been completely redesigned”.
Will ‘Resident Evil 4’ be available on PS VR2?
After the announcement trailer, a shot of the main character, Leon Kennedy, from behind was shown with the caption: “PlayStation VR2 content is also in development.”
It is currently unconfirmed if this will be a full VR port of the game or additional content, but resident evil 7: biohazard, was also available in its entirety on PS VR and RE: town it will also receive a PS VR2 port later this year. What will ‘Resident Evil 4’ be about?
According to a blog post on the PlayStation website, it appears that the new version of Resident Evil 4 It will follow along with the events of the original: “It has been six years since the biological disaster in Raccoon City,” writes Capcom promo producer Edvin Edsö.

“Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president.
“With the experience of multiple missions behind him, Leon is sent to rescue the kidnapped daughter of the President of the United States. He follows her to an isolated European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the villagers. And he raises the curtain on this grueling story of survival, terror, and rescue.”

The game will also receive a free visual upgrade on the PS5 and Xbox series X/S versions of the game when it launches later this year.
