Lady Gaga is reportedly in talks to play Harley Quinn in a musical. jester two.
Director Todd Phillips recently confirmed that he was making a sequel to his Oscar-winning comic book origins movie starring Joaquin Phoenix.
Now film insiders have told The Hollywood Reporter that pop singer and actor Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, is in talks to play Harley Quinn’s love interest and that the project, titled Joker: Folie a Deux, it will be a musical

There has been a mixed reaction to the news on social media with some moviegoers speculating that while the first jester was heavily influenced by Martin Scorsese Taxi driver, a musical follow-up would likely pay homage to Scorcese New York, New York starring Liza Minnelli.
eric diaz tweeted: “All the toxic brothers loved Joker, because it fetishized Scorsese’s ‘Taxi Driver’, a (great) movie that they love for all the wrong reasons. But clearly Joker 2 is going to be Scorsese’s ‘New York, New York’, which Which means it’s going to be a musical with Gaga talking about Liza. Their hate will be STRONG.”

While some are skeptical about the choice of Gaga, who was nominated for an Oscar for the 2018 film A star has been born – others believe that the unusual movement makes the perfect follow-up to the first one jester movie.
noam blum aware: “Joker 2 being a musical with Gaga as Harley Quinn sounds amazing. If you’re going to do a sequel to that movie, lean into being weird and in your own way.”
copper bell tweeted: “Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn has a chance to be amazing. And the musical aspect shows how different Joker 2 will be. It should be interesting to see how the rest of this movie comes together.”
Sheraz Farooqi said: “In speculating on the title of JOKER: Folie à deux, many assumed that Harley Quinn would co-star with Joaquin Phoenix. Lady Gaga is an interesting choice for Harley, but more experimental is the idea of a musical. It’s risky, but it could work. I’m interested in knowing more”.
Meanwhile, many Lady Gaga fans admitted that they weren’t fans of the first movie, but would see a sequel if she stars in it.
Margot Robbie currently portrays Harley Quinn in the DC Comic Universe, playing the villain in suicide squad and spin-off Birds of prey.
Phoenix, 47, won the Best Actor Oscar in 2020 for his dark portrayal of the comic book villain in the origin film about party clown Arthur Fleck’s descent from troubled loner and failed comedian to psychotic killer.
