Watch: The final stages of the Norfolk
The horn has just sounded on the pitch, so the stewards want to take a closer look.
AND THEY ARE GOING!
Walbank in the middle of the pack and leads the field as they hit the 1f post, but The Ridler passes the leader and then swings left and puts Brave Nation out of contention.
the horseman win at 50/1 and go! One for the marshals can you imagine when he crossed the track and stopped a couple of rivals, although he won in impressive style…
The last couple of horses entering the stables now.
This race is over 5f with Walbank as the 7/4 favourite.
The horses have reached the start.
For the Norfolk Stakes, which starts in just under five minutes.
Our first race of the day.
It’s the Norfolk Stakes at 2:30 pm.
Marcus Armytage is backing brave nation succeed, while our champion tipster Marlborough imagines the favorite walbank – and here’s why:
It’s hard to look past WALBANK, whose second-place finish in his debut was one of the strongest rookies we’ve seen this season. Unsurprisingly, he was better, and in no uncertain terms too, hammering his rivals to score by a bloodless seven-length margin in a rookie 5f at York. Walbank graduated expensively and looks like a potentially first-class youngster to go with his high price tag; he may be better off because of his connections that came so close in this race last year with Go Bears Go.

Confirmed: The Queen will not be at Ascot this afternoon
The Queen will not be at Royal Ascot today as her colt Reach For The Moon goes for gold in the Hampton Court Stakes.
The Derby’s sole favorite is a warm order to take a win at Ascot in the Platinum Jubilee year and Her Majesty was expected to make her first visit to the meeting to see him race.
However, it has now been confirmed that she will not be making the trip, as the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, will join their daughter Zara Tindall and her husband Mike in the first carriage.
Not only does the Queen have the Reach For The Moon coached by John and Thady Gosden on Thursday, as Saga contests the Britannia Stakes and the tactical races in the Buckingham Palace Stakes on match day three.
Her Majesty appeared at Royal Ascot just once in 2021, making the trip to see Reach For The Moon finish second in the Chesham Stakes on the final day of the meeting.
Here is the billboard for this afternoon:

Welcome to our live coverage of the third day of Royal Ascot 2022.
It’s Ladies Day, so we can expect some wacky wardrobe choices in the crowd…while on the field, there are two main stories to watch today:
Stradivarius goes in search of a record fourth Gold Cup at 4:20 p.m.
Reach For The Moon can claim a 25th Royal Ascot win for The Queen in the Hampton Court Stakes at 5.35pm
It’s a big day for John Gosden and Frankie Dettori, the trainer and jockey for both horses, as they search for a double that would bring the house down.
Our racing correspondent Marcus Armytage believes Reach For The Moon should prevail, writing: “He only faces five rivals and by the ratings that’s not always a guarantee, he’s got 6lbs to spare over his next closest rival, Claymore, maybe more.” Meanwhile, Telegraph Sport champion tipster Marlborough describes Gosden’s mount as “banker’s stuff… to give Her Majesty the Queen a timely Royal Ascot winner.”
Stradivarius, however, faces a tough test against the likes of Kyprios and Princess Zoe, as he attempts to join Yeats as a four-time Gold Cup winner (although another first-class member, Trueshan, was dropped from the lineup during the night due to concerns about speeding.
There’s no pressure anyway, Frankie…
When Dettori was told on Wednesday that he only had two jobs on Thursday, he replied: “As if I needed to be told.” He knows what he has to do, but even the world’s most famous jockey won’t be without nerves as he tries to execute the safe delivery of that pair of scripts.
We’ll have preparation for the big races, tips from our experts and live updates throughout the afternoon. Runners from the first race will go to the post at 2:30 pm
