Featuring more oaths and bodily fluids than even the most X-rated series, Boys it’s like giving the Marvel Cinematic Universe a shot of adrenaline and putting it in an adult bookstore, and fans can’t get enough of it.
If you wanted an enhanced superhero smorgasbord, there’s no denying that Eric Kripke delivered exactly that with Amazon’s Season 3. Boys.
Based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, there is still plenty of source material for Boys to punch his way through.

With news that the streaming giant has resumed Boys For Season 4, here’s everything you need to know about who’s going to tighten their spandex again, where we’re headed next, and what THAT explosive ending means for Billy Butcher and company.
Boys season 4 cast
Although the writing was on the wall for Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty), the star-crossed lovers survived in the end. The show’s own Ross and Rachel are sure to have more trouble in paradise in season 4.
The fact that all of The Boys survived Soldier Boy’s assault on Vought Tower means that Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara will surely return as Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and Kamiko aka the Woman. Front and center, we have Karl Urban, destined to lead the pack as the deranged Billy Butcher. Given
Butcher’s grim diagnosis due to the effects of V24, season 4 could be his last, yet something tells us this won’t be the case.
Though the ranks of The Seven may be scattered, Jessie T. Usher and Chace Crawford are set to reprise their roles as A-Train and Deep, under the tyrannical leadership of Antony Starr’s Homelander. Colby Minifie’s Ashley still has a shaky job as CEO of Vought, but with questions about what puppeteer Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) has been up to, don’t count the breaking bad Legend out for now.
In terms of villains, there’s a double threat of Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman setting her sights on the White House, and Cameron Crovetti’s crybaby Ryan realizing his potential as the son of the psychotic Homelander.
Finally, there are question marks over Dominique McElligott’s Queen Maeve, Jensen Ackles’s Soldier Boy, and Nathan Mitchell’s Black Noir for very different reasons. Maeve apparently had a happy ending with her ex, but with Ashley keeping this secret from Homelander, the vengeful Supe might be looking for her.

Despite his best efforts, Soldier Boy was put back on the ice, where a grieving Grace Mallory (Laila Robins) cares for him. Homelander has serious problems with his dad and could try to get dad out of his incarceration.
Even though Homelander seemingly killed Noir, those into the comics will know that there’s a twist that the show appears to have completely ignored. While it may not be our Noir that returns, there is still room for a Black Noir in The Seven.
Ironically, Kripke told Entertainment Weekly that Mitchell will return (in a different role): “It’s definitely not the last we’ve seen of Black Noir as a hero.
“It’s that the guy who was inside [the Noir suit] in season 3, he is gone. But we have Nathan playing a really interesting and hilarious character who will be wearing the suit next season.”
Boys season 4 plot
As for where the upcoming season 4 is going, the comics give some indication of the plot. Going from promising a tribute to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to full-blown Trump, Victoria Neuman is well on her way to becoming the most powerful Supe on the planet.
If head-popping ability wasn’t enough, she secured her spot as VP when The Deep drowned out her opposition in the finals. In the comics, Victoria is the male Vic the Veep, who finally makes it to the White House when Dakota Bob is killed by a wolverine. Neuman has already proven to be a master manipulator, so we assume that Stan Edgar trained his adopted daughter well.
Starlight has officially joined The Boys full-time, and with her new flying ability, it’s a huge win against Homelander. On the other hand, the crashed psychopath has his own little protégé to mold into Ryan’s form. Teasing Ryan’s expanded role, Kripke told Variety that there’s still hope Butcher can win Ryan back, knowing that he’s half Homelander and half Becca.
There could be a suitably dark twist on the horizon, as the showrunner explained: “If Homelander wins the kid, that’s apocalyptic because then there are two Homelanders. It’s like a children’s drama with apocalyptic stakes. It’s like ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’ will meet ‘Avengers: Endgame’. So it’s going to be a really rich story going forward.”
Speaking of Butcher, his diagnosis that he only has about a year to live gives Kripke the perfect opportunity to lean into the Butcher we see in the comics. With Ryan now Team Homelander and The Boys’ ranks larger than ever, he expects Butcher to have The Seven’s leader firmly in his sights. Whether it’s taking a full dose of Compound V to make him a permanent Super or finding someone with the powers to cure him, we still don’t see Butcher walking out in a box. Meanwhile, he’s sure to be his usual ‘I don’t give a shit’ self.

Just as Ackles and Payback joined the fray in Season 3, we’re expecting some new characters to take the lead. There are four loopholes in The Seven, and let’s be honest, The Three doesn’t have the same tone.
I mean, fans are asking about the character known as Tek Knight, who is effectively Batman from The Boys himself. Fans previously wrote off Tek Knight because he is too NSFW. but after ‘Herogasm’, all bets are off.
Boys season 4 release date
Amazon just renewed Boys for Season 4 in June, and with the final broadcast on July 8, we’ll likely be a long way from dressing up again. Looking at the show’s history, there was a 13-month gap between seasons 1 and 2, followed by a 20-month gap between 3 and 4.
The pandemic didn’t help, but this means Boys The release date for season 4 could logically be between July 2023 and March 2024.
Giving hope to an earlier release date, Urban told Collider that filming will officially begin on August 22, so expect more news on the foul-mouthed series soon.
Boys S3 is streaming on Prime Video now. Check out a trailer below.
